The mission of the Department of Sociology is to equip the students with the knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of Sociological principles and theories. We aim to provide students with the skills necessary to analyze and address the social world and its challenges. Moreover, our mission is also to prepare students for successful careers.
Goals:
The main goal of the Department of Sociology is to cultivate multiple ways of understanding society in order to create purposeful futures for our students in an ever-evolving employment market by application of sociological knowledge gained through collaborative education, community engagement, and experiential learning: developing transferable skills such as research, professional writing, effective communication, inclusivity, and leadership Objectives:
Our main objectives are to:
• Develop high quality professionals and behavioral scientists that are committed to pursuit of excellence, and are endowed with vision, courage and dedication.
• Improve academic standard in this region through the generation, assimilation, and dissemination of knowledge.
• Prepare people of this area to serve as intellectual resource base in this region.
• To introduce students to the basic social processes of society, social institutions and patterns of social behavior.
By adhering to these missions, goals and objectives, the Department of Sociology strives to train students to understand and to interpret objectively the role of social processes, social institutions and social interactions in their lives and enable them to cope effectively with the socio-cultural and interpersonal processes of a constantly changing complex society
